Chief Financial Officer (NU19-206)

Catalyst Biosciences is looking for a Chief Financial Officer to join our leadership team in our South San Francisco office. The position reports to our President & CEO and will serve as a business partner to our CEO, leadership team and the Board. The CFO manages IR/CC, G&A, financial & operational performance and compliance.

Catalyst is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing novel medicines to address important unmet needs within bleeding and complement related disorders. Catalyst has compounds that span the value chain from early discovery to late stage clinical trials.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner with the President & CEO and management team on investor relations, business development and corporate communications

  • Build relationships with healthcare investors, portfolio managers and analysts

  • Manage finance, accounting, equity, D&O, IR/CC, IT and Facilities organizations and staff

  • Oversee the Company's fiscal function and performance

  • Maintain integrity of overall fiscal operations, including SEC and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance

  • Build infrastructure that will improve efficiency and effectiveness

  • Advise on contracts with significant financial implications

  • Review external audit and tax compliance work

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or scientific discipline

  • Demonstrated success in IR and BD/transactions within the life sciences industry

  • 10 plus successful years’ experience managing finance organizations in public biotechnology companies

  • CPA and/or MBA preferred
